Som Tam Thai Salad Ingredients:

  • 1/2 raw papaya
  • 1 fresh carrot
  • 3-4 french beans
  • 1/4 large capsicum
  • few strings of beans shoots
  • 4-5 cherry tomatoes or diced tomatoes
  • few strings of spring onion green part
  • a handful of roasted peanuts
  • 1 tablespoon of soya sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of lime juice
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 2-4 red chilies
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar /honey /palm sugar
  • few iceberg lettuces for garnishing
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind pulp

Preparation Process for Som Tam Thai Salad : 


Step 1: The first and foremost step is to cut all vegetables in julienne so that all these veggies will look like noodles, since its most hefty part of the dish, we can take a help of a good julienne cutter or peeler.

Step 2: After all vegetables are ready take a large bowl place veggies in it, squeeze lemon juice, soya sauce, olive oil, palm sugar/honey/brown sugar, tamarind pulp & mix properly. 

Step 3: Now in a bowl muddle garlic cloves, red chilies, and few tomatoes.

Step 4: Transfer this paste into a large bowl. sprinkle salt according to taste, be careful as soya sauce already contain salt.

Step 5: Now mash lightly all of these together & leave it for about 5 mins so that the juices of all the veggies will come out nicely.

Step 6: Finally topped the salad with loads of crushed crunchy peanuts  & serve on fresh iceberg lettuce leaves.
