Famous Mumbai street food got its glory coz of being easy on the go meal, tasty & handy this versatile snack doesn't even take much time if you do few preparations in advance like make chutneys a day before & store in the fridge.
Vada Pav Recipe
Ingredients
- 5-6 fresh Vada pav / buns
- 5- 6 boiled potatoes
- 1 /2 cup Gram flour ( Besan)
- Spices - turmeric, salt ,1 tsp red chilli powder,1 tsp coriander powder, garam masala ,1 tsp chaat masala
- Curry leaves
- 5- 6 cloves garlic ( grated )
- 1 inch piece of ginger ( grated)
- Mustard seeds (rai)
- Asafoetida
- Green chillies
- Green chutney
- Sweet tamarind chutney ( sauce)
- Dry garlic chutney
- Oil for deep fry
Preparation
Step 1 Mash boiled potatoes in a big bowl
Step 2 Take a tadka pan ( seasoning pan ) and heat 2 TSP of oil
Step 3 Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida , ginger - garlic and all the spices
Step 4 Now add this mix to the mashed potatoes & shape them into small balls
Step 5 In another bowl, mix salt, chilli powder, turmeric & 1/2 TSP of baking soda in gram flour
Step 6 Add water to make semi thick batter. The batter should be well coated over the potato balls
Step 7 Fry these balls on medium high flame till it turns golden brown in color
Step 8 Fry some green chillies along with vadas
Step 9 This is the fun part!
Slit the pav into halves while keeping one end intact. Apply green chutney on one side and sweet tamarind chutney on the other side. Place the Batata Vada on the bun & sprinkle dry chutney,Serve with fried green chillies & enjoy your scrumptious treat 😋😋
